Hello Barrel District my name is Michael Calles and I am running to be your next Glendale City Councilmember.  I am a fourth-generation Arizonan, U.S. Air Force and Army veteran, and retired Phoenix Police officer with 25 years of service. A graduate of Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University, I have served my community as a Civilian Investigator with the Phoenix Police Department. Beyond public service, I  spent over two decades mentoring youth as a high school baseball coach. I am a man of faith, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, my family embodies the same dedication to service as myself. My oldest son proudly serves as a Glendale Firefighter, my daughter is a nurse,  my middle son is an officer in the United States Marine Corps, and my youngest son is a proud member of the United States Navy. My stepdaughter owns her own beauty salon, building success through entrepreneurship, and my stepson is a journeyman electrician. 

My fellow Barrel district voters, I am a regular citizen just like you who is fed up with the current councilmember’s lack of leadership, accountability, and ethical responsibility. I’m tired of seeing Glendale residents ignored while political insiders look out for themselves. I believe city leaders should listen, respond, and lead with integrity — values I have lived every day through decades of service in law enforcement, the military, and as a mentor to local youth. Now, I am ready to bring that same honesty, discipline, and responsiveness to City Hall.
